Cerasarda was set up on the Costa Smeralda in 1962 to supply the ceramics for the villas to be built. It produces floor and wall tiles for bathrooms and kitchens, as well as pottery and plates. Cerasarda colours have a sunny transparency and originated with French (Provence) pottery makers (like Picault) who came to Sardinia from Picasso's workshop. The designs and decorations are inspired by Mediterranean che approdarono in Sardegna dalla bottega ceramica di Picasso. The designs and decorations are based on Mediterranean and in particular Sardinian themes, which have been fused and re-elaborated by grand masters such as Vietti, Busiri Vici and Couelle. The Cerasarda
line is produced by expert Sardinian craftsmen, whose origins lie in a
mixture of ancient cultures, Phonecians, Greek, Arabic and Roman.
